Qualitative Research in Nursing

Abstract
The field of Nursing is changing and will continue to change as it becomes a fully recognized profession and discipline. This goal is important, but to achieve it requires some fresh approaches to old problems and new modes of thinking in the field. Most of all, there is a need for exploring and examining new and different types of research and theories to explicate the nature and essential features of nursing.
In general, qualitative research must be given more consideration in the future than today. Qualitative methods have been greatly neglected or devalued in the health field. With greater knowledge and use of qualitative research, it can be predicted that many more nurses and social and health researchers will become attracted to and value these methods. Qualitative methodologies are, indeed, the true and sound way to know the nature of human beings, their life ways and health conditions.
